Blue Curacao Giffard 70cl



Emile Giffard was a dispensing pharmacist and neighbour of the "Grand Hotel" in Angers, in the Loire Valley. However, he was no mere chemist. Inventive, curious and gourmet, he undertook research on the digestive and refreshing properties of mint. In 1885 he invented a pure, clear and refined white mint liqueur which he tested with the Grand Hotel''s customers, in order to relieve them from heat. Success came at once, Emile converted his pharmacy into a distillery, and launched his classic liqueur Menthe Pastille, which was named after to the popular mint pastille sweets of that time. More than 120 years later, Giffard & Co, remains in the hands of the Giffard family, who produce many liqueurs, cremes and sirops.

To date there are over seventy Giffard sirops, crèmes, liqueurs and premium liqueurs available in the UK and quality has been the Giffard watchword. They only use fresh and natural fruits and flowers from the Loire valley region in France to flavour their products. Their philosophy of offering the best, preferring natural taste and respecting nature in the production process, is ensured by family management spanning four generations.


The production process is controlled within the company, mixing traditional methods (slow fruit macerations) with the latest techniques, the aim being to give every liqueur the pure taste of the fruit.
