    Chalmers pioneered this grape down under producing the first Australian Vermentino wine in vintage 2004. The 2014 Chalmers Vermentino from Heathcote, Victoria, marks a decade of Vermentino in Australia and a maturity of style. Not modelled on the wines of the Mediterranean, but inspired by them, Chalmers Vermentino hints at the hard herbs and sea spray so distinctive to the grape but keeps the palate light, lively and fresh. Racy and savoury, this crisp, dry wine shows white nectarine and Amalfi lemon aromas. The palate has a pithy/chalky texture, refreshing acidity and a pleasant lingering finish.
