The 2014 Man O'' War Sauvignon blanc is an exuberant expression of some of the classic New Zealand grassy herbaceous styles; fresh herbs, green capsicum, nettles and gooseberry on the nose with some of the riper tropical fruits expressed on the palate. The wine is conveying the volcanic influence in the soil through its minerality and elevated acidity which is well balanced with texture from the barrel influence and ripe fruit tannins extracted from the skins in the cloudy ferments.
The 2014 Valhalla Chardonnay has layers of tropical fruits, stone fruit, and hazelnut, mineral and complex toast/smoke characters. The palate is all about elegance and discreet power with silken texture and vibrant acidity framing a clean fresh uncluttered palate. The wine finishes with its hallmark grapefruit bitterness.
Classic Sémillon characters of chalk dust and fresh herbs with complex fennel bulb characters from the wild fermented Sauvignon Blanc. The palate is focused and structured with tense acidity and ripe fruit tannins giving persistence and clarity.
