  1. 2012 Estate Sauvignon Blanc, Man O' War

    The 2014 Man O'' War Sauvignon blanc is an exuberant expression of some of the classic New Zealand grassy herbaceous styles; fresh herbs, green capsicum, nettles and gooseberry on the nose with some of the riper tropical fruits expressed on the palate. The wine is conveying the volcanic influence in the soil through its minerality and elevated acidity which is well balanced with texture from the barrel influence and ripe fruit tannins extracted from the skins in the cloudy ferments.

    Classical in style the 2013 Dreadnought shows the lifted aromas of speck and peat typical of Man O’ War Dreadnought Syrah and showcases the riper fruit spectrum of the variety with overt blue berries and black pepper notes. The palate is elegant with supple fruit, vibrant acidity and a large presence of fine grained tannins emulating the structure of classical Northern Rhone. Stylish, finely balanced and rewarding in its youth we see the 2013 Dreadnought developing gracefully in age as the fine boned structure becomes more apparent and great complexity ensues.

    The 2014 Bellerophon is classically structured with an intensely fragrant nose of violets, raspberries and white pepper. Careful management of the stem and Viognier components has resulted in a palate that is soft and elegant exhibiting flavours of ripe red berries All of which is encased by the distinctive stem tannins giving a lifted freshness and length to the finish. The wine is incredibly approachable in its youth but will age gracefully developing more savoury earthy and smoked meat characters with time.

    The 2014 Valhalla Chardonnay has layers of tropical fruits, stone fruit, and hazelnut, mineral and complex toast/smoke characters. The palate is all about elegance and discreet power with silken texture and vibrant acidity framing a clean fresh uncluttered palate. The wine finishes with its hallmark grapefruit bitterness.

    Classic Sémillon characters of chalk dust and fresh herbs with complex fennel bulb characters from the wild fermented Sauvignon Blanc. The palate is focused and structured with tense acidity and ripe fruit tannins giving persistence and clarity.

  6. 2011 Estate Merlot Cabernet Malbec, Man O' War

    The 2011 Man O’ War Merlot blend exhibits ripe aromatic notes of dark berry fruits, cocoa and liquorice with complementary floral, spice and coffee characters. The palate is rich and supple with exuberant sweet fruit balanced with fresh natural acidity and fine grained tannins. The fementation of whole berries in the ferment has promoted the fruitfulness of the vintage and the gentle extraction has resulted in the wine being able to spend an extended time on skins resulting in a fine tannin structure.

  7. 2010 Ironclad Cab Franc Merlot, Man O' War

    Full of sweet ripe fruit with lifted aromas of crushed red berries and darker cassis, hints of floral perfume with tobacco and cedar. The palate is vibrant, exuding ripe fruit and a rich texture finishing with supple fine grained tannins. The 2010 Ironclad shows great fruit accessibility with a powerful structure coated in luxuriant fruit, supple yet powerful it is an engaging wine in its youth that will reward patient cellaring revealing a refined structure and greater complexity with age.
