The Chancellor has announced an increase in duty on still & sparkling wine which will come into effect for all orders placed after 4pm on Sunday 3rd February 2019.
The rates have risen with inflation at a rate of 3.1% - calculated using the retail price index estimate from October 2018 provided by the Office of Budget Responsibility.
This means:
- Duty on a 75cl bottle of still wine increases by 7p to £2.23
- Duty on a 75cl bottle of sparkling wine increases by 9p to £2.86
- Duty on a 75cl bottle of fortified wine increases by 9p to £2.98
Please note all duty levels vary according to bottle size and alcohol strength.
