Tasting Note: Specially selected Chenin Blanc, fresh and delicate, full of white fruits, straw, honey and flowers and zesty and mineral on the finish.
Food Matching: Light zesty tomato based salads, light pastas and risottos. Also fresh cheeses and cold hand carved ham.
Vineyard: Practicing organic viticulture (non-certified). Anjou blanc Mozaik comes from 2 distinct terroirs – limestone and slate. Anjou being the historic province of the lower Loire river.
Vinification: This Anjou is aged for one year in wooden vats with natural yeast's. The wine is then filtered before bottling. The French oak barrels range from 225 litres to 600 litres. 100% Chenin Blanc from specially selected parcels from the Domaine Pithon Paille estate.
Awards and Press News: With generous praise from judges including team leader Charlie Young, who found this ‘endlessly complex, unconventional and delicious’, it’s no surprise that a Critics’ Choice award followed its elevation to Gold. Young described ‘sweet spice and fennel, with ground nuts and sherry notes, as well as cloves and citrus’, while Hakkasan Hanway Place’s Oliver Nagy enjoyed its ‘oxidative style, with crisp apple and citrus, and quite a rich palate, with good acidity and length.’
