Kakira Sugar Limited

Kakira Spirits, founded on the Kakira Sugar Estate near the source of the River Nile on the banks of Lake Victoria, transforms estate-grown sugar cane molasses into premium spirits. With a commitment to quality and heritage, the distillery uses traditional pot still methods to produce small-batch spirits, including their flagship Kakira Silver Rum. The business has grown significantly since its inception, supporting local communities and wildlife through its charitable fund.

Kakira’s spirits are crafted using estate molasses, hand-distilled in pot stills, and aged in a solera system with select American Bourbon barrels and Spanish Sherry casks for a minimum of five years. This meticulous process enhances the depth and complexity of their rum, while charcoal filtration ensures a smooth, refined finish at 40% ABV. This approach to distillation, combined with their careful cask selection, sets Kakira apart in the world of premium rums.

Sustainability is at the heart of Kakira’s philosophy, reducing waste through innovative use of by-products from the estate's sugar production. The company actively supports environmental conservation and local community development, ensuring a lasting positive impact on the region’s ecosystem and economy.
