Michel Juillot
Mercurey and the Côte Chalonnaise run through the veins of the Juillot family, whose domaine of more than 30 hectares is one of the most respected in the area - praised for wines that champion fruit and fresh elegance over exoticism and extraction. There's evidence that the Juillots were tilling the vineyards of Mercurey as long ago as 1404, and Louis Juillot - great-grandfather of current manager Laurent - planted the first vines after the phylloxera catastrophe.
