Stag's Leap Wine Cellars

Stag's Leap Wine Cellars is a legendary Napa Valley winery, celebrated for its pivotal role in establishing California as a world-class wine region. Founded in 1970 by Warren Winiarski, the winery gained international acclaim when its 1973 Cabernet Sauvignon famously triumphed over top French wines in the 1976 Judgement of Paris tasting. Located in the Stag’s Leap District, a small sub-region of south-eastern Napa Valley known for its distinctive terroir, the winery specialises in producing elegant and age-worthy wines. Today, Stag's Leap Wine Cellars is guided by winemaker Marcus Notaro, whose expertise and commitment to quality continue to uphold the winery’s storied reputation.

Stag's Leap Wine Cellars' approach to viticulture and winemaking highlights the unique characteristics of its estate vineyards. In a district known for its volcanic soils, cool breezes from San Pablo Bay, and warm days, grapes grow to optimum ripeness producing wines with balance and structure. A melange of traditional and innovative winemaking techniques, including precision harvesting, small-lot fermentation, and gentle fruit-handling preserve the integrity of the grapes.

Stag's Leap Wine Cellars is undergoing a rigorous programme to achieve Organic and Regenerative Organic certifications. The winery is part of the California Sustainable Winegrowing Alliance (CSWA).
