Tasting note
Sometimes called 'the Barolo of the south', Taurasi is rich, complex, tannic red made from the Aglianico grape on volcanic soils; this example is a powerful hit of red and black berries, liquorice, cranberry and vanilla.
Vinification
Fermented in temperature controlled stainless steel vats. Ageing is in French barrique (Troncai, Center and Vosges) for 18 months. The wine is then aged in bottle for another 18 months before release.
Food Match
Starters based on salami, risotto and pasta with meat sauces; red meat, game, aged cheese.
