Tasting note
The Unique Pie Franco vineyard (900-960m) was abandoned for 20 years due to difficult access and its steep, 17% north-facing slope. Revived in 2011, it spans 1.67 Ha with a soil shaped by a tectonic fault. The complex terroir adds finesse, elegance, and austerity to the wine, reflecting the vineyard's challenging conditions.
Viticulture
Dry farming, old vines, Pie Franco.
Vinification
The 2020 Mediterranean vintage featured a rainy spring, ensuring healthy vine growth and ideal grape maturity. Summer had warm days (up to 31°C) and cool nights, while September was mild with cold nights. Harvested in early October, grapes were handpicked. Cold maceration included 20% stems, followed by spontaneous fermentation and 40 days of skin contact.
