This is Bodega Cerrón’s entry level wine in their Stratum range, and what a fabulous starting point! From a selection of Monastrell vines (co-planted with around 10% of other varieties) in Fuente Alamo between 850-940m. These are old vines, 50 to 80-years’-old, that bring concentration and complexity to this wine. Violets and Turkish Delight with red cherry fruit combine to produce a pure and precise red with fantastic vibrancy while a touch of blueberry and graphite culminate in a refreshing finish. Matas Altas is a village wine that marks the character of the old vineyards planted on Pie Franco in Fuente-Álamo. They are old vineyards in calcareous soils that mark a profile of wines with full maturity and concentration being at the same time fresh, agile and fine. Wines from warm days, cold nights and limestone.
