Tasting note
Approachable, positively matey South Australian Shiraz-Grenache blend, rich in dark fruit and scented with leather, spice and sandalwood.
Viticulture
A wet winter primed the vines with subsoil moisture and lush canopies. Dry spring, high temps, and a January downpour provided relief. Mild ripening led to wines brimming with spicy fruits, rich colour, and balanced tannins. Vintage began on January 30, breaking the record as the earliest start by one day.
Vinification
Small grape batches gently crushed, then transferred to open fermenters. Foot treading midway through fermentation, basket pressed. Aged in a mix of new and old French oak on lees. No racking until final blend, no fining or filtration. Pure, untouched essence.
Food Match
Shepherd's pie with lamb, smoked turkey, roasted pork loin, or manicotti with marinara sauce.
