Tasting note
Powerful yet friendly Shiraz from McLaren Vale in South Australia, all spice and dark chocolate on the nose with cherries, blackberries and flowers in the mouth.
Viticulture
The season started well with average winter rainfall. Summer was warmer than usual, with two heatwaves in January challenging the vines. Rain and cooler weather post-heatwave slowed ripening and allowed flavour development to balance with sugar ripeness. The white wines are fruity and flavourful, while the reds have ample tannin.
Vinification
The grapes used in this wine underwent gentle crushing, food treading and traditional open tank fermentation. The juice was basket pressed and aged in a mixture of stainless steel, large wooden vats and oak barriques prior to bottling
Food Match
