Tasting note
A wonderfully generous Chardonnay, spilling over with ripe apricots and quince and finishing on a rich note of honey on toast.
Viticulture
Les Ménétrières is a SE-facing vineyard less than 2.5 acres in size; borders the village of Fuissé. One third of the vines are 40 years old; one third 20, and a third 10. The upper half of the vineyard is planted on shale, the lower half on pearly slabs. The soil is composed of alluvial deposits, a mix of deep silt and clay with few stones.
Vinification
Fermentation takes place in oak barrels, of which 20% are new, and is followed by a period of six months’ ageing on fine lees.
