Tasting note
Substantial, complex red wine from Priorat, the Catalonia powerhouse, with a lattice of fine tannin supporting dark berries, herbs and a finishing flourish of spice.
Viticulture
Franck Massard, ex-top UK sommelier turned winemaker, began in Priorat in 2004. This wine from Pobaleda on "licorella" slate soils is managed organically with painfully low yields (1kg/vine). Handpicked grapes, treated with care in small crates, showcase pristine fruit. Franck prioritizes vineyard balance, practicing organic viticulture for biodiversity.
Vinification
Huellas, Franck's signature wine, reflects his fingerprint on the bottle. A more elegant Priorat expression, it blends 60% Carinena and 40% Garnacha, fermented with indigenous yeasts in stainless steel, followed by oak maturation. 20% ages in new 500L French oak barrels, and 80% in second and third use 225L French oak barrels for a total of 12 months.
Food Match
