Tasting note
Fruity Austrian white with lovely texture, layers of apples, pears and spice, breathing wisps of smoke and shreds of mint on the finish.
Viticulture
The Kollmütz vineyard is marked by its eastern parcels of loess and predominantly bedrock cliff-faced rocks towards the west. Eric Machherndl has four sites within Kollmütz that are planted on bedrock terraces and on the high plateau. The fruit is hand selected from 25-39 year old vines.
Vinification
The fruit is destemmed before being allowed to settle at a cool temperature. Fermentation takes place at 13-19 degrees in stainless steel, the wines are then filtered.
Food Match
Will match well with lightly spiced dishes
