Tasting note
Pale lemon with a soft green hue, this Chardonnay presents pronounced citrus, blossom, and grapefruit aromas, accompanied by hints of honey and pear. The palate is clean and fresh, boasting green apple flavors and a creamy texture that finds harmony with its lively, bright acidity. A fine and rich mouthfeel leads to a long, dry finish.
Viticulture
Despite spring frosts, Hattingley had an excellent growing season. Warm spring, a touch of rain in August, and a September heatwave resulted in their earliest harvest, yielding clean, flavorful fruit. Smaller bunches due to dry conditions led to a lower yield than 2018 and 2019, a welcome change after two bumper years
Vinification
Selected grapes from Kent, Essex, Sussex. Handpicked, gentle whole-bunch press. Fermented in temp-controlled steel tanks for freshness. Some old oak for spice. 20% malolactic for fruit character. Filtered, bottled young and vibrant. A symphony of carefully chosen elements
Food Match
Enjoy on its own or with a 'Fat Rascal' crab brioche sandwich.
