Tasting note
Rosso is the lighter, less aged wine from the clone of Sangiovese known as Brunello and this is lovely: concentrated and elegant, with black cherry, blackcurrant and soft-serve vanilla on the nose, with coffee and black fruit in the mouth.
Viticulture
The winery's oldest vineyards, planted between 150 and 450 metres (490 - 1475 ft) above sea level. Brunello vines are planted with the cordon spur and doppio capovolto system of training.
Vinification
This Sangiovese wine, sourced from ten-year-old vineyards, mirrors Brunello di Montalcino. After hand harvesting, a portion ages for 12 months in medium-sized Allier oak barrels, while the rest matures in barriques. The final stage includes 6-9 months of bottle aging before release.
Food Match
Moroccan spiced beef, grilled pork chops with classic barbecue sauce or steak with ham, provone and mushroom sauce can all be a wonderful match with this delicious red.
