Tasting note
Spicy red from California's Sonoma wine region, packed with black cherries, figs, blackberries and raspberries, with a trace of earth and a whiff of espresso on the nose.
Viticulture
Monte Rosso Vineyard, nestled in California's Mayacamas Mountains, 400m above Sonoma Valley, an iconic site. Owned by Louis M. Martini Winery since 1938, renowned for its red volcanic soils. Generations of award-winning wines thrive from its high altitude, fog-free position, low-yield vines, and western exposure. Now led by trailblazer Brenae Royal.
Vinification
Grapes are fed into small, open-top fermenters for a 3-day cold soak before primary fermentation. Following this, free-run juice is separated, and the must softly pressed. The wine spent a total of 26 months in barrels—72% new French oak, 16% new American oak, and 12% neutral barrels.
Food Match
Perfect with braised beef short ribs.
