Tasting note
New Zealand Syrah, perfumed with blueberries and black pepper with a substantial presence of dark fruit and peat in the mouth.
Viticulture
Sourced from 5 vineyards; Asylum, Lunatics, North 3, Mad Man's, Garden Cove. Vines are trained in two cane VSP. These unirrigated vineyards are naturally low yielding resulting in 12 - 18 bunches per vine yielding very concentrated fruit.
Vinification
Most fruit was sorted, destemmed, and treated traditionally. Some ferments included up to 15% whole clusters. After pressing, wines aged in barrels for 18 months with natural malolactic fermentation. Bottled under screw cap in February 2016.
