Tasting note
Grassy, herbaceous Sauvignon Blanc from northern New Zealand, as green on mouth and nose as the countryside it comes from: herbs, gooseberries, green capsicum and nettles.
Viticulture
Sourced from 7 vineyards; Sidewinder, Rootrake, North Basin, Beast, South 3, Lone Kauri, GLW. Vines are trained in two cane VSP. These unirrigated vineyards are naturally low yielding resulting in 10 - 18 bunches per vine yielding very concentrated fruit.
Vinification
The 2014 vintage was exceptional, with early yet ripe Sauvignon blanc and 6% Semillon in perfect condition. Whole bunch pressed grapes, Sauvignon blanc divided for stainless steel and barrel fermentation with wild yeasts. Semillon fermented in old barrels. Barrels aged on lees for 6 months before blending and bottling.
Food Match
Pairs well with seafood, salads and poached chicken
