Despite its name ("little sweet one"), Dolcetto is anything but sweet. This Piedmontese gem is all about black cherries, licorice, and almond-like bitterness, supported by firm tannins and moderate acidity. Unlike its high-strung regional cousins, it is meant for early drinking, offering a rustic, food-friendly appeal. Best enjoyed young, when its fruit is at its brightest, yet always carrying a whisper of old-world charm.
