Encruzado
Portugal’s white grape, Encruzado is elegant yet powerful, offering a mix of citrus, peach, and floral notes, underpinned by minerality. Grown primarily in the Dão region, it balances crisp acidity with a creamy, structured palate. Some versions see oak aging, adding spice and nutty complexity. Often compared to fine white Burgundy, Encruzado has remarkable aging potential, developing honey, hazelnut, and truffle-like depth over time. A versatile food wine, it complements grilled fish, poultry, and rich, buttery dishes. Though production remains small, its potential for producing world-class whites is undeniable.
