Gaglioppo
The key grape of Calabria’s Cirò wines, Gaglioppo is a structured, high-acid red with sour cherry, dried herbs, and earthy minerality. Often compared to Nebbiolo, it offers firm tannins and a complex, savory finish. Traditionally rustic, modern winemaking has helped refine its elegance while maintaining its old-world charm. With age, it develops tobacco, spice, and dried fruit complexity. Best enjoyed with rich, tomato-based pasta dishes and roasted meats.
