Muller Thurgau
A German crossing of Riesling and Madeleine Royale, Müller-Thurgau is prized for its floral perfume and soft fruit character. It produces light, fresh wines with notes of white peach, citrus, and a delicate herbal undertone. Though lacking Riesling’s acidity, it remains widely planted in Germany, northern Italy, and Austria, where it offers an easygoing alternative. Often vinified in an off-dry style, it pairs well with light seafood and salads. While sometimes dismissed as simple, well-made examples—particularly from cool-climate regions—show surprising depth and aromatic finesse. A versatile white that continues to find admirers.
