Pinot Blanc
Often mistaken for Chardonnay, Pinot Blanc is a versatile white variety that produces elegant, fruit-driven wines with a rounded texture. Found in Alsace, Italy’s Alto Adige, and Austria, it offers delicate notes of pear, apple, and citrus, often with hints of almond and white flowers. Naturally moderate in acidity, it can range from crisp and mineral-driven to creamy and full-bodied, depending on winemaking techniques. In Alsace, it is frequently used for sparkling Crémant d’Alsace, while in Italy, it excels as a fresh, unoaked white. Though often understated, high-quality Pinot Blanc offers subtle complexity and excellent food pairing versatility.
