Schiava
A light, perfumed red from Alto Adige, Schiava is all about delicate red berries, roses, and almonds. Traditionally produced in a fresh, easy-drinking style, it resembles Gamay or Pinot Noir but with a unique herbal edge. Low in tannins and high in acidity, it is best served slightly chilled to enhance its bright, juicy character. Some versions develop nutty, smoky complexity with age. Though often overlooked, Schiava is a charming, food-friendly red that pairs beautifully with cured meats, light pasta dishes, and alpine cheeses.
