Traminer
Often confused with its more aromatic offspring, Gewürztraminer, the original Traminer is a far subtler presence in the vineyard. Believed to have originated in the Alpine foothills of northern Italy or Austria, this ancient variety offers a restrained, earthy profile - green apple, faint citrus peel, and a whisper of spice, carried on a gentle frame. Naturally low in acidity and modest in alcohol, it lends texture and quiet complexity to blends, though varietal examples exist in cooler, higher-altitude sites. Less exuberant than its descendants, Traminer rewards attention with a quiet, mineral poise - an echo of winemaking’s deeper, older roots.
