Bosco Nestore
Giovanni Bosco began growing vines in 1897 and then passed on the winery to his son Nestore. The wines had gained a local reputation for the intense perfume and spiced palate, but it was the recognition of the Montepulciano d'Abruzzo DOC in 1968 that propelled the international reputation of Bosco's wines. As the coveted slopes of Pescara became saturated with vineyards, the Bosco family expanded inland and focused their production on only the highest quality fruit. In the 1980s, the third and fourth generations of the family built a new winery In Nocciano. Wines are matured in a combination of large barrels of Slovenian oak, new barriques and in bottle.
