Château Lamothe-Bouscaut is a historic estate in the village of Cadaujac, Pessac-Léognan, with origins dating back to the 12th century. Acquired in 1999 by Sophie Lurton and Laurent Cogombles, owners of neighbouring Château Bouscaut, this nine-hectare property has become a significant part of the Lurton family legacy, renowned for their stewardship of Bordeaux's finest estates. The château produces both red and white wines, with a majority of the vines planted to Cabernet Sauvignon and a smaller plot dedicated to Sauvignon Blanc and Sémillon.
The estate's vineyards are planted on gravelly soils rich with limestone, creating ideal conditions for producing wines with complexity and balance. Only one of the nine hectares is devoted to white varieties, with Sauvignon Blanc (70%) and Sémillon (30%) used for the white Bordeaux blend. Vineyard management is meticulous, including hand pruning by a dedicated team of five vineyard workers, and the use of traditional winemaking methods ensures that the wines reflect the unique terroir of Pessac-Léognan while maintaining the elegance for which the region is celebrated.
