In the press

92/100 - The organic Conterno Fantino 2023 Barbera d'Alba Vignota shows soft and thick layers of ripe blackberry with an especially succulent element in this warm vintage. Black cherry and crème de cassis give this wine a fruit-forward style with soft tannins and bright acidity. The house style always prizes elegance, and that is apparent here. Drink 2025-2029.
Monica Larner, The Wine Advocate

Tasting note

Fruity yet elegant Barbera d'Alba, perfumed with cherries, including both sweet and sour cherries and plums.

Vinification

From five small Barbera plots at Monforte village. The name 'Vignota' means ''small vineyard' in Piemontese dialect. Fermentation at 30° C over 7-8 days. Thereafter the wine is aged in third-fill French oak barrels for 12 months, which had previously been used for Barolo.
