Conterno Fantino

Conterno Fantino is a renowned boutique winery located atop Monforte d’Alba, in the heart of Barolo, Italy. Established in 1982 by Guido Fantino and brothers Diego and Claudio Conterno, the winery blends modern winemaking techniques with a deep respect for the region’s heritage. The family business has recently welcomed Guido’s son, Fabio Fantino, ensuring a second generation’s involvement in the estate's future. The winery is celebrated for its outstanding vineyards, including the historic Ginestra vineyard, and its state-of-the-art facilities that boast stunning views of the surrounding countryside. Known for producing powerful and elegant Barolos, Conterno Fantino has garnered numerous accolades, including a “STAR” award in Gambero Rosso 2007 for winning 13 Tre Bicchieri awards.

Conterno Fantino’s viticulture and winemaking techniques showcase a modern approach while maintaining the authenticity of Barolo. The estate covers 23 hectares, including notable sites such as Ginestra and Bricco Bastia, which are dedicated to Nebbiolo, Barbera, Dolcetto, and even Cabernet Sauvignon and Chardonnay. The winery is at the forefront of Barolo modernism, employing short maceration times and ageing in French barriques to enhance the wines’ texture, elegance, and freshness. The result is a distinctive style that combines power and refinement, setting Conterno Fantino apart from more traditional Barolo producers. The Monprà blend, featuring Nebbiolo, Barbera, and a hint of Cabernet Sauvignon, exemplifies the winery’s innovative spirit, taking the Langhe Rosso category to new heights.
