Tasting note
Chardonnay from northern Italy, delicately perfumed with butter, honey and broom flowers.
Viticulture
100% Chardonnay, partly from the Ginestra vineyard and partly from Bricco Bastia. A few of the vines are old, though most have been replanted over the past decade (average age: 15 years), employing French clones characterised by small grape bunches.
Vinification
Ginestra imparts structural depth, while Bricco Bastia adds acidity and freshness, due to varied temperatures during maturation. Vines face southwesterly, on cooler hillsides with various exposures shielding berries from excessive heat. The marly-calcareous terrain, abundant in silt and sand, lies at 500 meters altitude, yielding a mere 1kg per vine
Food Match
Great with herby roast chicken, griddled scallops and rich mushroom pasta dishes.
