Tasting note
From a gravelly plot beside a river, this is a happy marriage of grape varieties and flavours, with spice and herbs, ripe red fruit and a blast of southern sunshine.
Viticulture
Sourced from the single vineyard 'Bussiere'. whose vinyard surface equivalent to 15ha; the soil is made of of gravelly alluvium in Courthézon nearby Châteauneuf-du-Pape vineyards, and close to the Ouvèze river.
Vinification
Vines are pesticide-free with use of natural manure; herbicide-free soil care ensures health. 50 hl/ha yield. Hand-harvested vines, 80% stem removal for fruit focus. 12-15 day maceration during fermentation, 30% new barrel ageing for 12 months. Annual 80,000 btls.
Food Match
Roast leg of lamb with mustard and red wine sauce, steak with ham, provone and mushroom sauce or pan-seared filet mignon with roasted potatoes and Merlot sauce will make for a splendid combination.
