Tasting note
Garnet in colour. Expressive aromas of red fruits, perfectly balanced with delicate forest and fine spice aromas. This is a wine that embodies all the freshness and elegance that the Tinta Francisca and Touriga Nacional grapes deliver when planted at an altitude of 430 metres, with a north facing aspect. Seductive and moreish with a fresh, elegant finish.
Viticulture
Crasto's pursuit of a lighter wine led them to Tinta Francisca, with smaller leaves for slower sugar development, resulting in lower alcohol. Thin skins yield low-tannin, lighter-hued wines. The blend of 70% Tinta Francisc and 30% Touriga Nacional for intensity creates a balanced wine, sourced from a north-facing, 430m altitude vineyard in Douro Superior.
Vinification
The grapes are completely destemmed with only a light crushing. Fermentation is in temperature-controlled stainless-steel tanks for 4 days in contact with the grape skins, with very gentle extraction. After pressing it is transferred to wooden barrels to complete fermentation.
