Tasting note

Indulge in the dark purple allure of Farvie Syrah. Aromas of whortleberry, aronia, and purple grape lead to notes of clove, star anise, lily, musk, leather, and iron. The palate is super-refined, intensely flavoured, and succulent, with delicate powdery tannins. Evolving gracefully over 15 years, this wine harmoniously embodies greatness.

In the press

Stunning nose of blood, iron, pencil shavings and intense blood plum power. The palate is long and beautifully balanced. Dark berries, damsons, cocoa, ground peppercorns, spices and toast flavours feature in this deep and powerful wine. This is an absolute cracker.
Erin Larkin, The Wine Advocate
Complex nose of black olives and liquorice root, with nuances of ripe black plums and dark berries. The palate is well-layered, silky and elegant.

Viticulture

Farvie' vineyards are on ironstone, gravel hilltops above Frankland River and yield distinctly ferrous wines, of top quality fruit. Swinney's passion for bush vine viticulture produces labour-intensive, site-specific, hand-cultivated grapes with rich rewards."

Vinification

Hand-picked from 21-year-old Syrah vines on ironstone gravel soil, this wine blends 55% whole-bunch wild fermentation for structure and texture. Aged 11 months in French oak (35% new), it showcases bright aromas and a distinct character.

Food Match

Pair this bold, spice-driven wine with robust slow-roasted barbecue pork. Opt for a pork shoulder—rich and umami-filled. Elevate the flavours with pepper and cumin, enhancing the wine's fruity notes.
