Tasting note
Well-balanced, sophisticated Rioja, teeming with redcurrants, cherry and the fresh scent of liquorice, with a plus underlay of blueberry, blackberry and violet.
Vinification
From a vineyard at San Vicente de la Sonsierra, planted with approximately 97% Tempranillo and 3% Graciano. Matured 24 months in 60% French and 40% American oak barrels, of which 30% were first-fill. The predominance of both seasoned and French oak means that the barrels do not overwhelm the fruit, while helping round out the texture.
Food Match
Any kind of lamb dishes, grilled or roasted. Also pork, chorizo, barbecued meats, Moroccan dishes and hard sheep's cheeses.
