Marsanne
Marsanne is a full-bodied Rhône white known for its rich texture, stone fruit flavors, and nutty complexity. Typically blended with Roussanne, it contributes weight and a waxy mouthfeel, while aging unlocks honeyed, toasty notes. Young Marsanne is fresh, with pear, apricot, and white flowers; with time, it deepens into almonds, brioche, and spice. In Hermitage and Saint-Joseph, it produces structured, long-lived wines, while Australian expressions tend to be riper and fruitier. Though naturally low in acidity, careful winemaking preserves its freshness. Best enjoyed with roasted poultry, creamy dishes, or richer seafood like lobster and scallops.
