Piedirosso
An ancient Neapolitan variety with roots deep in Campania’s volcanic soils, Piedirosso is as evocative as its name “red foot” suggests, referring to the vine’s crimson-tinged stems. Often blended with Aglianico, it brings lift and perfume to southern Italy’s brooding reds. On its own, Piedirosso charms with soft tannins and vivid acidity, offering a spectrum of red cherry, rose petal, and dried herbs, sometimes with a smoky, ashen edge that speaks of Vesuvius. Though delicate in structure, it holds a rustic appeal, unfussy yet distinctive. A local hero, it captures the soulful warmth of coastal Campania in every glass.
