Xinomavro
Often compared to Nebbiolo, Xinomavro is Greece’s most structured and age-worthy red, offering sour cherry, sun-dried tomato, and rose petal aromas. High acidity and grippy tannins make it almost impenetrable in youth, but with time, it softens into a layered, elegant wine with notes of leather, olive, and spice. Found in Naoussa and Amyndeon, it produces reds of striking longevity, requiring patience or food pairings that mellow its structure. Though lesser-known internationally, Xinomavro delivers some of the most compelling and terroir-driven wines in the Mediterranean. A grape of intensity, character, and serious aging potential.
