Lucien Lurton Collection

La Passion des Terroirs, formerly known as Lucien Lurton, is a historic family-run business that has been at the forefront of Bordeaux wine production for six generations. Founded by Lucien Lurton in the 1950s, the estate became renowned for acquiring and revitalising several Grands Crus Classés properties during a period of economic turmoil. Lucien’s dedication to preserving Bordeaux’s finest terroirs has solidified the Lurton family as one of the most respected names in the region. Today, the legacy is carried on by Lucien’s ten children, each managing prominent estates such as Château Brane-Cantenac, Château Durfort-Vivens, and Château Haut-Bages Libéral. Their collective expertise continues to shape the Bordeaux landscape, championing quality and tradition in every bottle.

La Passion des Terroirs is distinguished by its commitment to traditional Bordeaux viticulture, combined with a focus on quality and terroir expression across its estates. Each property is carefully managed to reflect the unique characteristics of its vineyard, with winemaking practices that honour the heritage of Bordeaux while integrating modern techniques. The Lurton family employs precise vineyard management, including organic and biodynamic methods where possible, ensuring the health of the vines and the quality of the fruit. The use of traditional vinification methods, coupled with state-of-the-art technology, allows for precise control during fermentation and ageing, resulting in wines that are elegant, complex, and true to their origins. The family’s dedication to craftsmanship and respect for terroir have made their wines highly regarded among Bordeaux’s finest.

Sustainability is a core value at La Passion des Terroirs, with a strong focus on environmentally friendly practices throughout their estates. The Lurton family is committed to sustainable viticulture, with many of their properties implementing organic and biodynamic farming techniques. Château Climens, under the guidance of Bérénice Lurton until its recent partial sale, stands out as the only First Classified Growth in Bordeaux to be certified biodynamic, demonstrating the family’s dedication to ecological stewardship. Across their holdings, the Lurtons prioritise biodiversity, minimal chemical intervention, and water conservation, aligning their winemaking with a broader commitment to environmental sustainability. These initiatives ensure that the wines of La Passion des Terroirs not only reflect the excellence of Bordeaux’s terroirs but also contribute to the long-term preservation of the region’s viticultural heritage.
