Vigna Petrussa

Vigna Petrussa is a boutique, female-led winery in the heart of the Judrio Valley, within Friuli’s Colli Orientali. Nurtured by three generations of women, it produces around 40,000 bottles annually from eight hectares, all cultivated in harmony with nature.

The estate champions native grape varieties - particularly Friulano, Malvasia, Picolit, Refosco and the distinctive Schioppettino. Owner Hilde’s dedication even led to the founding of the Schioppettino Producers Association of Prepotto. Vigna Petrussa’s Schioppettino 2019 earned the Tre Bicchieri award in Gambero Rosso 2024―the only Friuli red to do so. Described by Ian D’Agata as “one of Italy’s best and most under-the-radar estates,” it remains SQNPI-certified and devoted to crafting wines of elegance, soul, and respect for the land.

The story of Vigna Petrussa began in the 1970s when Giuseppina Petrussa took charge of the family vineyards following the sudden loss of her husband. With a deep passion for Schioppettino, she crafted a sweet version of this distinctive wine, laying the foundation for the winery’s future. In 1995, her daughter Hilde took over, bringing fresh vision and energy. A passionate advocate for Friuli’s native grape varieties and sustainable viticulture, Hilde elevated the estate and worked tirelessly to restore Schioppettino’s reputation. Today, Hilde is joined by her daughter Francesca, and together, they continue to honour tradition while embracing sustainability and innovation.
