Pinot Bianco
A versatile white grape, Pinot Bianco (Pinot Blanc in France) is often overshadowed by Chardonnay but offers elegance and subtlety. Grown widely in Italy, France, and Austria, it produces crisp, medium-bodied wines with notes of pear, apple, and almond, often with a soft, rounded texture. In Alsace, it is used for still and sparkling wines, while in Alto Adige, it reaches its finest expressions with mineral-driven complexity. Though sometimes blended, varietal Pinot Bianco wines can be refined and age-worthy. Less flamboyant than its Pinot cousins, it rewards those who appreciate restrained, well-structured whites.
