Glera
Glera, the backbone of Prosecco, is a vigorous, high-yielding grape native to northeastern Italy, particularly Veneto and Friuli. It thrives in the steep hills of Conegliano and Valdobbiadene, where it achieves its finest expression. The wines are fragrant, light-bodied, and joyously effervescent, offering aromas of green apple, pear, white peach, and acacia blossom. On the palate, a lively, delicate mousse carries crisp citrus and almond notes, finishing with a whisper of salinity. Rarely complex but always charming, Glera’s appeal lies in its purity and freshness—best enjoyed young, chilled, and in good company, as all fine Prosecco should be.
